Trip to Hopetoun WA.

Image
Well in the last blog we got as far as Mason Bay and after that road closure. Well after further investigation we found the cause. The South Ocean Road that passes through the Jerdacuttup Lake Nature Reserve has broken it banks and lake water has flooded the road that passes through between the foreshore dunes and the Lake. The road has been closed for a year as the water isnot receding as rain water keeps topping up the levels of the lake. This explains why we had to detour to get to Hopetoun. We have been through Hopetoun recently but thought we would have something to eat on the wharf area. It is a hot day and people are swimming in the water. Well after having something to eat it was time to make tracks to the town of Ravensthorpe were we have been before but as we went through the town and ascending a big hill we passed silo art but nowhere to pull over but managed on the side of the hill not very good but I did get some pics. We decided to do bush camping across from the

Well next morning a beautiful day, we packed up and drove west until the turn off to Starvation Bay. Now heading south the road turns from bitumen to an unsealed gravel road. The gravel road is in reasonable condition. We make our way to the South Ocean Road, lots of gravel dust all over the camper trailer and truck. We see the road sign announcing Starvation Bay. We turn in and come to a T section on the left takes you to the caravan park and Campgrounds. To the right takes you to North Powell Point let's check it out. Heading up a steep hill another turn off to the boat ramp but keep going on you pass the dump point and then you see it. North Powell Point "what a view" fabulous. Photo opportunity again. Gay-Maree excited to get down the beach track to the rocky coastline. From here the next land mass is the Antarctica. This is a fantastic place to visit, but now it is time to leave and try to get to Hopetoun along the coast road. As we left Starvation Bay on
