Our Doorway To Camping OZ

We are currently camping 18klms outside of the town of Kambalda. At the Corner of the Coolgardie-Esperance Hwy and the Goldfields Hwy there is a rest area that you find a track behind the rest area that goes along way from the road. It is peaceful and tranquil being outdoors. We have setup the energy collection devices such as solar panels and wind turbine the batteries are fully top at the end of a day with abundant amount of offgrid power available. There has been a constant wind blowing in this area good for the wind generator. Today is washing day, being totally self sufficient makes it easy to live offgrid. The ground has Blackstone and white quartz, this usually represents good prospecting ground with active gold mines up the road some metal detecting might be worth while. Relaxing under a shady tree in our reclining chair makes it easy to take a nap if you are tied enough. Last night we were star gazing under the night skies. This is another fine example of a free campsite right next to the Muirs Bridge that runs over the Frankland River. This site has trees for wind break, rubbish bins, shelters for tables and chairs. No toilet block so you need to be self contained, plenty of turning space up to of the rest area. There are tracks that lead down to the river and bridge area but at the time we visited they were in poor condition due to rain washouts in the tracks. While we were there other fellow travellers came over to enjoy our company and watch an outdoor movie via projector. I walked the tracks and trails for fitness it is amazing what you see wild Kangaroo Paws red and green, beautiful. What a lovely site if only you explore the area. Lake Muir is up the road also National park though. So no dogs, this is a shame.

23rd November, 2018 We were in the town of Albany most of the day and needed to move on, and find a free campsite for the night. We ended up at the Pallinup River Nature Reserve right next to a wooden bridge which the Mains Road worker were working on repairs to the bridge. The bridge called the Marra Bridge officially open on December 1962. We drove into the site a few fellow campers were all ready setup for the night, we walked the site but every fellow camper started having a chat to us, which left no time to setup anywhere else. So the camper trailer now setup and fellow travelers came over to checkout our setup, which they liked. The campsite has bins, table and chairs and a covered bbq area. Very nice, a bit close to the road but was nice for 3days. I tried to walk around the area and a very steep decent down to the river which had river water flowing. You can see in the wet season the water comes along way up the banks of the river. The bridge has a very long span...

We spent the day exploring Bremer Bay and as it is now getting very late in the afternoon it is time to find our next free campsite for the night. As the Fitzgerald River National Park is not pet friendly and excluded a member of our family we decided to free camp across the road from the National Park. The sign designates the area as a truck stop but this is not so. The rest area is huge with bins, tables, info board and trees for shade. No toilet block, but we are fully self sufficient and we setup a portable ensuite that meets our showering and toilet needs. However if you venture further, you will see tracks leading into the bush areas behind this stop. We venture off into the bush camp area, as you could not see our campsite from the main rest area, and is far enough away from the road noise. There is also plenty other campsites on the other side of the tracks. This campsite provides beautiful scenery, wildlife such as birds and kangaroos. There are several walking tracks ...
