In Search Of Jools

Well Jools our beloved pet Maltese baby boy passed away 4th March, 2019. It has been very hard emotionally on both Gay-Maree and myself as emotional wrecks.

Jools is no longer in pain and passed away peacefully in my arms. It is his absence that has created a massive void in our life. Emotionally we both have sunk down into despair, no longer wanting to travel or do anything.

Now Jools has been taken care of, he is no longer in pain and free of fear and uncertainty, now it was time to try and repair our lives. This is harder than you may think, for the last 10 years he has been with us in everything we had done as he suffered from separation anxiety. The truth be told, so have I suffered from separation anxiety too.

The only solution was to replace Jools who can never really be replaced with a new Maltese male puppy called Jools, to get our lives back together as a family and start travelling and enjoy life once more with Jools "2".

Gay-Maree found a Maltese dog breeder in Warwick, Queensland, who has a male puppy available at the end of the month of March. Yes it is along trek across country of Australia and yes no puppy available at the time any closer. Our emotional state required us to do something sooner than later.

It has been devastating for both of us living without Jools and doesn't seem to be getting any easier with time. It feel's as Jools has run away and we are desperate to find him again. Yes every dog owner goes through it but they never really get over it. Our Jools was an extension of ourselves that made us a family and wanted to love and protect him for life. How do you get over that?

So now we have made a decision to take up this quest across country to get our family back together. In memory of Jools our new puppy will also be called Jools, in memory of our dearly departed travel companion.

The quest will start in the town of Jacup, WA travelling across country ending at Warwick, Queensland. This is somewhere between 4,000-5,000 klms.

At the time of writing this blog we have made it to Cobar. There is currently a heatwave going on and temperature of 40C very hot conditions. Weather not good all over Australia with two cyclone's Veronica and Trevor hitting the coastline at same time. Hoping the road conditions still good and not flooding to get to Warwick, Queensland.

We Arrived at Passmore Reserve 2days before picking up Jools it is raining and windy. Gay-Maree wanted to go to Silvermist Maltese which is 20klms south of Warwick to a suburb of Wildash way up into the mountain. The drive in was a real test for the truck as the driveway about 5klms long straight up the side of a mountain and the truck towing a camper trailer 7 ton up a side of a mountain with no momentum to help the truck climbing in first gear up this hill.

This breeder had many puppies and we were shown Jools mother. This breeder has 100 acres with beautiful views of the valleys below.

Jools "2" will only be 8 weeks old by 30th of March. We couldn't have him any sooner and we are very anxious whether Jools "2" will be a drop in replacement for Jools and help us get on with our life to enjoy our travels again, I hope so!

We traveled to Texas on the Dumaresq River and camped overnight it rained very heavy overnight and the next day.

Hopefully new adventure's will follow with our new traveling companion Jools!
