Setting up again the camper trailer, preparing for a long stay as all non essential travel is cancelled. The camping area is bushland, just like we like it. It has a fantastic scenic view of a mountain in the background. This is not a bad place to self isolation. A few other campers here, as we all live on the road and have no fixed address.  The Coronavirus has changed everything to do with travel. All campers here stay apart and take self isolation seriously. I was chopping some wood with an axe the other day, just some big dead branches on the ground. Not realising how dangerous this exercise was. One of the big branches I chopped section off the branch and the thicker end of the branch as I swung a hefty blow with the axe at the branch caused the branch to bounce off the ground and headed towards my face with a head on collision with my face. Yes bruising and scratches on the face but lucky it didn't take out my eye or broke my nose or knock out my teeth. This is a chore that m

Non Essential Travel - Who Knew.

Well weather is starting to get wild, possiblity of a cyclone forming off Townsville, Queensland. Temps up to 46°C just about every day it is time to start traveling South. Leaving Anabranch we start our travels towards Clermont, Queensland. We camped the night on a gravel pit just outside of Clermont. Clermont area is well known for it gold fields. As I was leaving the gravel pit I noticed a piece of Quartz sitting on the ground with flecks of gold in it, a keeper in my books. On we went traveling past the town of Emerald, heading to Surat where the Fishermen Rest Area would be the campsite for the night. Well unknown to us the area had a very recent flooding event with mud and debris everywhere, not to mention swarms of flies. Well we had to stay the night, it was a nightmare, the bridge near by was lite up with lights very bright and trucks going over making a loud clanging sound as they went pass, most of the night very noisy.  No sleep, then the council decided at daylight to star

Travel No Go

Still up at Anabranch North Queensland. Travel has been a no go. We are normally in Northern NSW. Bushfires, heatwaves, droughts, now floods, more on the way. The South East corner of Queensland no better. It seems like the whole of Australia is burning. Even the Nullarbor hwy has been closed due to bushfires. This is the first time spending the whole of the summer period up in the tropics, compared to the South, it has been good. No droughts, no flooding, but we do get the heatwaves pushing 42°C. At the start of our stay all of the vegitation was burnt by the hot sun baron ground with green trees. But now it has started to rain everything is greening up again. I am using the whipper snipper as the grass is so long we loose sight of our dog in the grass. Jools our dog has found his own cool place under the truck. We have just acquired a new evaporative cooler, which does the job of cooling us down. We tested it in 46°C temp and it stops us from sweating, even though in 10 minutes you c
