We packed up and left Dinosaur Creek, very cold and windy, it got down to 2.3°C  06.00 am. Today's journey heading towards the town of Cloncurry, but first we headed into the town of Mckinlay this is the town where the Walkabout Creek pub is the pub that famous, in Crocodile Dundee.the movie that Paul Hogan played in. It is also a caravan Park where you can stay the night and have a drink in the pub.   Now onto Cloncurry, which has a museum of Reverend John Flynn who helped start the flying doctor service. There is also water tank artwork done by artist Joel Fergie completed 2018. On the road out of Cloncurry there is a memorial to the local Kalkadoon tribe.     O nwards there is the Corella Dam which was the main water supply for the Mary Kathleen Township.   There is also the Clem Walton Park where you can camp on, where the Corella river flows pass. Entering the Mary Kathleen Abandoned Township is part bitumen road part dirt and part potholes. Evidence of concrete slabs some cur

Well on the road again Longreach we stop at the servo for lunch and proceeded onto Winton about 180klms ahead long drive. We have pretty much explored this area before. Stockman hall of fame, Quantas Founders Museum across the road it has a new shelter over the plane which was not there last time, your can see it for miles down the road. Leaving Longreach they are upgrading the Landsborough Hwy they have cleared both sides of the Hwy almost making ready for a double lane? The Macsland rest area is also cleaned up since our last stay a few years ago. Up the road always looking out for rest areas that you can camp out the back of the rest area. The Morello Creek rest area was one of those good ones and marked it as a favourite. Finally arrived in Winton we have explored this area in the past, you have the Waltzing Matilda Centre, Opal stores, Dinosaur Stampede fossil at Lark Quarry. We arrived at Dinosaur Creek very rocky area lots of flat ground, no water in creek, but time to setup.

Well after getting fuel and leaving Barcaldine, we headed towards Ilfracombe, landscape definitely different, not many trees the ground looks like a fire has been through and the environment hasn't recovered. Just East of Ifracombe we stopped off at the Newstead Creek Campground. The surface of the ground is soft like recent rain. A sign posted at the entrance state if you get bogged it will cost you to be towed out. What a be aware sign?.   Now we drove inside the grounds this is a huge camp area with rubbish bins scattered throughout the area. It is very easy to get away from road noise. Lots of trees in this area.  Setup camp for the night, the gazebo tent erected, winds are now picking up SSW very cold air from a cold front sweeping over Queensland. A lovely sunset. We stayed in the gazebo tent last night it was not bad keeping the cold wind out. I walked around the campground it is huge a creek does flow around the campground but unfortunately the creek has dried up no water.
