Tonight we were watching the state of origin game two on the TV outside via the satellite dish, we had good reception. It was a good fast game. It makes me feel good how comfortable camping is now days compared to years ago. Yesterday I was baking bread in our new sunbeam bread maker. I baked a multigrain loaf and it turned out great. Texture and crust the way we like it. Very impressive, only 450w of power, using our power inverter to change 12v to 240v. This is all being done in the Bush, offgrid, camping is really comfortable in modern times. I got the metal detector out to fossic for gold seeing that we are on the Goldfield Highway, tried my luck in a dried up river bed and yes I found aluminum cans, fencing wire, but unfortunately for me no gold, still a lot of fun and the exercise is always good for you. It's now late afternoon, time to get the fire on and setup the satellite dish, the vast box and TV for the State of Origin game two in the ANZ stadium Sydney. Well it is a v

Snake Hill to Leonora WA

Today we packed down and left Lake Ballard and went up the road about 3km to the lookout on Snake Hill. The view from up at the lookout was absolutely incredible, views over the salt lakes of Lake Ballard. I was thinking of taking the gravel road to the town  of Sandstone but the directions wasn't clear and I felt like I might get lost, so we turned around and head for the town of Menzies and turned left and heading north proceeded yo drive to Leonora. This was a road we had never gone this way previously so all new. We stopped off at the Menzies rest area for lunch, this was a good rest area with tracks going behind the main rest area. Unfortunately a common appearance at just about all rest area is rubbish on the ground and toilet paper everywhere. This is definitely not what you want to see but it is all to common. After lunch onto Leonora crossing the railway line the information center on the left. Dump point, water, displays of historical old machinery photo opportunity.

Lake Ballard the next day.

This morning up at 0600hrs take pictures of dawn breaking over the lake. Mid morning I started my journey around the lake.  Walking was hard going on the salt lake as it was very muddy and slushy under foot. I started walking to the outermost sculptures and walked over 6km but there were sculptures further out. This is a massive outdoor artwork collection of Anthony Gormley, it is over 10km of the lake and is said to be the biggest outdoor artwork collection on earth. Walking around the lake I climb a hill to get a better view. This is definitely a spectacular view. It is a shame that someone rode a trail bike on the salt lake doing donuts near some sculptures wrecking the experience for those seeing the displays behind them. There are signs saying no vechiles on the salt lake obviously some people cannot read, this is a shame and is vandalism of the artworks on the salt lake. Still it doesn't dampen my experience and was very excited about being on the salt lake this is one o
