Snake Hill to Leonora WA
Today we packed down and left Lake Ballard and went up the road about 3km to the lookout on Snake Hill.
The view from up at the lookout was absolutely incredible, views over the salt lakes of Lake Ballard.
I was thinking of taking the gravel road to the town of Sandstone but the directions wasn't clear and I felt like I might get lost, so we turned around and head for the town of Menzies and turned left and heading north proceeded yo drive to Leonora.
This was a road we had never gone this way previously so all new. We stopped off at the Menzies rest area for lunch, this was a good rest area with tracks going behind the main rest area.
Unfortunately a common appearance at just about all rest area is rubbish on the ground and toilet paper everywhere. This is definitely not what you want to see but it is all to common.
After lunch onto Leonora crossing the railway line the information center on the left. Dump point, water, displays of historical old machinery photo opportunity.
Leonora is a big town for its location. On our travels we passed heaps of mining site with plenty of workers and several big road trains on the road, I suppose that towns like Leonora would have to cater for the extra people.
As we drove through Leonora heading north it was getting later in the day, it was time to setup camp. We found a campsite called Ford Run rest area, it's about 80km north of Leonora.
We will stayed for 3 days, on Sunday night State of Origin game two in Sydney.
I will setup the satellite dish to watch the game. Currently I am making bread in our bread maker sunbeam brand only 450w power.
