Onto Small Town Yalgoo
We left Jundoo Dam site, difficult pack down as wind 50km/h a very cold and chilling wind, was only going to 15°c.
Now packed on the way to Mt Magnet on arriving to the area no fancy welcome sign, it was Saturday afternoon, all shops locked like a ghost town except some activities at the pub. The BP service station now closed forever.
So we left town no even taking any pictures, very disappointed. Now on the way to Yalgoo a little town 120km west.
Afternoon upon us, sun starting to go down we check out a few rest areas before deciding on the one to stay at. It looks like recent rain puddles and mud hole at some of the sites.
This campsite is about 30km east of Yalgoo.
We had a beautiful campfire to celebrate the end of the day. Good night sleep.
The Next Day
Awoke to a sunny but windy morning. Beautiful bush scenary and some wild flowers.
When for an early morning walk down the tracks, walk about 3km. Now it was time to collect some wood for the campfire tonight.
Decide to take the metal detector for a walk, unfortunately no real activity in this area. ? May have walk over a big gold nugget but who really knows.
Solar panels out collect solar energy for our batteries.
The Following Day.
There is a tourist site called the Joker Tunnel, looks like an old abandoned mining tunnel. Apparently there a bats in the cave, might be worth while checking it out.
Well packed up camper trailer now on the road. About 5km out of the town a turn off taking about 20km down the road to the turn off to Jokers tunnel.
1.7km of gravel road to a mining tunnel rest in the side of a hill. The entrance you can stand up in but you are almost crawling to the end entrance coming out the other side of the hill.
Did not see any bats, but did hit my head a couple of times. Great view of landscape and distance salt lakes. Now off to Yalgoo to check out the area.
