Carnarvon to South Headland Then Karratha

Arrived in Carnarvon busy little town very friendly RV parking.

Went to post office to collect mail parking across road easy access, then to Woolworths for shopping drove in the car park manage to park truck and camper trailer in both areas easily.

Went to information board  to fill water tanks with drinking water well done Carnarvon.

Only gripe they do not support free camping, as we spent over $600.00 in town we could have bypassed the town because they did not support free camping.

But they did have 7 caravan parks that has a very big lobbying power.

Free camps are offered from November through to April cyclone season we would get our campsite washed away thanks a lot Carnarvon.

From Carnarvon we started our travels to the north. The landscape lush green and wildflowers and golden wattle as well.

Mountainous ranges and granite outcrops scattered all over the landscape. Huge termite mounds about 2m high scattered over sections of the landscape.

We stopped for lunch at the Nanutarra Roadhouse.

We pulled into a few different rest areas on the way, only to find them full with travellers.

On we drove until we arrived at Sherlock's river rest area north side. This is a very steep drive down soft sandy. We setup for the night beautiful river views and clear sky.

After a good night sleep, we packed down now it was time to drive up the sandy washout entrance very steep.

A fellow traveler watched out for traffic as I needed momentum to get 7 ton of truck with camper trailer up this sandy steep washout exit.

The truck had some difficulty as auto selected to high of a gear struggling but did not lose traction now out we were under way again.

Next stop Whim Creek, a pub and free camping.

Driving into South Headland allot of industrial area and power plants.

A lot of construction going on rail and road. You are greeted by mine sites and power station as you entered into South Headland.

Arriving at the post office to pickup mail, parked in the supermarket car park no problems.

Now it was time to go back to Karratha to meet up with some friends, we decided to camp at Miaree Pools campground where our friends Brenda and Steve caught up with us.

Thursday 9th August 2018 at the Miaree pools campground we spent a beautiful evening with Brenda and Steve under the night skies looking at star and planets talking about travel hints and phone apps.

Brenda and Steve travelling  north to south and we are travelling South to north in the opposite direction, we managed to meet up here.
