Heading Towards Carnarvon WA
Driving along the landscape was awash with a sea of color as the native wildflowers of Western Australia come into bloom.
I stopped a few times to take pictures of the beautiful colors of the wildflowers.
Now we are heading towards the town of Billabong which is more like a service station next to another roadhouse.
Shell servo $1.78/L for diesel, at the Billabong roadhouse was cheaper at $1.48/L for diesel, home cooked meals, loads of souvenirs, friendly staff, established since 1962.
We stopped for lunch there hot food even a restaurant and a caravan park attached.
But plenty of free camping spots across the road. It is a really nice area.
We left there heading north the landscape was like beach sand, some inland lakes, evidence of recent flooding across road, water still to the sides of the road.
Arriving at the Gladstone scenic lookout we drove up a steep winding road to get to the lookout on top. Plenty of parking area and rubbish bins but this is no longer a camping destination but only for day use.
The view are magnificent you could see all the way to the Indian ocean with tidal lake coming in for miles. The mountains and the ocean meet in this area.
Well on we went to our next stop for the night called Edaggee rest area but was full with caravans travellers.
So we went on to the next stop called Inggarda rest area it had a gravel pit area at the back. It will be a comfortable overnight stay.
I have taken pictures of the sunseting on another day.
We are about 70 klms south of Carnarvon.
Star gazing into the night skies we can see Venus, Jupiter, Saturn and Mars on this very clear night.
