While at Herbert Park.

Well we are still camping at Herbert Park on the Yule River, currently dry. Camping here for about 2weeks. It is about 51klms south of Port Hedland.

It has been a busy time for us, while waiting for mail to arrive. We are camped close to the bridge at Yule River.

Port Hedland is a big mining town and the traffic is road trains, and transporting huge mining equipment, over the bridge. These semi trailers carrying these huge mining equipment take up the whole width of the bridge.

Pilot cars and police help with the transportation of the mining equipment to there destination.

We decided to get the trucks 30.000klm service done at Major Motors Port Hedland and they did a good job.

On traveling the outback roads we also picked up a flying stone, from a truck that the windscreen caught, creating a crack about 40 cm long. The crack in the windscreen  was jaggered in shape and length.

So while camping here, the windscreen also got replaced by Avanti a sub of (OBrien Glass) at Port Hedland.

As mention in an earlier blog water damaged the DC electrics in the truck, the new items came in the mail and I replaced all the damaged items.

The new MPPT solar controller 80a charges all the batteries very fast from the existing panel fully charging to 100% in about 4hours that 780a of batteries in my battery bank very happy with that.

The hybrid controller also does a good job it has been very windy here and the wind generator is getting a good workout. It is nice to see the batteries full charged by next morning even though watch DVDs on tv for about 4 hours after the sun has gone down.

I bought a new tow hitch as the other was not long enough and sat under the back of the tray which over hunged the tow hitch. This was causing some damage to the front of the camper while navigating through the bush tracks and almost jackknifing as the turn was to tight.

The new tow hitch comes out past the back tray and the problem should be eliminated hopefully.

Well after the truck was serviced the mechanic informed us that we had 2 bald tyres which was a disappointment as we have only done 30,000klms on the tyres and they are expensive tyres but not long wearing.

So we booked the truck in for the tyres too be replaced going to try a different brand to see if we can get better mileage from the tyres.

We thought we would try Goodride tyres which up here the name Westlake tyres are the same. Waiting at the moment till the tyres arrive.

Tyres arrived and now on truck they make the truck sit higher and are very quiet on the road.

I have been walking around the campsite for excerise and on the dry river bed, hard going, very soft sand.

On the other side of the bridge is a small pond of water. A fellow traveler went fishing in the hole and caught a fish a trout fish which he showed us what he caught. I though it was no more than a drinking hole for the roaming cattle that is here.

The cows come around the campsite in the afternoon for a feed of grass and weeds they are more efficient than a lawn mower no pushing.😁😁😁

Sunsets are beautiful, ever changing the end of a day is always new.
