Broome To Fitzroy Crossing.

Well we packed down early and set off for Broome. We went past the Roebuck Roadhouse about 33klms to Broome. Along drive in to town, Broome is quite a big town spread over a big area.

Lots of resorts, caravan parks and others to accommodate the tourist trade. Big airport, Cable beach a nudist beach, lovely parks with beautiful views of the Indian ocean, not great for swimming as the box jelly fish (stingers) are present.

After touring Broome we headed east stopped at the Roebuck roadhouse, filled up with fuel and food and off we went heading east came to an intersection one way to Derby the other to Fitzroy crossing.

Well we will be traveling back along this road so we will see Derby later. On the way we see this big BoAb tree on the side of the road, photo opportunity. Of coarse the landscape full of termite mouns.
Next stop the Giant Boab Tree rest area, another photo opportunity.
It is now getting later in the afternoon the distance between towns so vast,
we settled on Ellendale rest area for the night and proceeded to setup the swag.

The temperature is still very hot 35°c at night, another uncomfortable night ahead but we do have fans and the evaporative cooler which will help to get some sleep.

Next morning we packup and headed east onto Fitzroy crossing. Arriving at Fitzroy crossing the river had water in it, as most of the creeks and rivers we went passed were dry, only sand in the river bed.

There are resorts over looking the river the bridge single lane after getting to the other side it was photo opportunity. The town has a big Aboriginal community as they congregate to the parks and the trees.

From there we travelled east temps 42°c as this area is close to the Great Sandy Desert.

Onto our next stop, Ngumban Cliff rest area, great views, very nice area it has big undercovered table and chair, we had a lunch break and let the truck cool down before refueling. This place was another photo opportunity.
Now refuelled it was onto Mary Pool rest area, lots of trees, one small water hole in the river bed. Setup the reclining chair, met a few fellow travellers and had a yarn to them. Now it is time to setup the swag for the night. The onto Halls creek tomorrow.
