The Road Back To Broome.
Well we decided to go back on the Savannah Way and head back on the same road to Broome.
As we packed up and left Dunham River rest area, heading south, passing varous rock mountain ranges from the side of the road.

We stayed on the road and turn off to the Warmun Roadhouse for breakfast. The Bungle Bungles very close from the roadhouse you can book helicopter flight over the range.

The Bungle Bungles are in a National Park were Jools our pet maltese is not allowed so niether are we. On we go checking out other rest areas on the way. The Spring Creek rest area very nice but like most of the creeks and rivers up here are all mostly dry.

Next stop we stopped at the Giant Boab Tree rest area, where we put out the chair under a small tree for lunch. The Boab tree fence and on display in the middle of the rest area.
Gay-Maree sighted an eagles nest ontop of the branches and also admiring the leaves of the Boab tree.

The trunk of the Boab tree very wide and has an opening in the trunk.

These trees in the past were use to lock people inside as a jail. Visitors to the tree over time have carved their names into the tree bark.
Where we sat for lunch we notice gumnut pods all over the ground, the tree we sat next to had gumnuts all over the branches reminding us of the fairy tale book of the gumnut fairys.

On we drove through familiar territory, through Halls Creek, and onto Mary Pool rest area where we thought of making camp, but the temp 44°c, too hot so we drove on through the town of Fitzroy Crossing and onto Ellendale rest area where we stayed the night in the swag.
Nighttime very hot overnight.
Next day packed up and onto Derby. On the way into Derby we see a sign saying Prison Boab Tree. It time to explore, from the entrance there is a under cover information boards and the concrete floor had Aboriginal artwork on the floor. Onto the prison boab tree where the local police would lock thier prisoners inside. Photo opportunity.

Then it was onto the town of Derby, big town centre and we drove to the wharf area, wind blowing wild, the seawater like a washing machine,

making the seawater look muddy. I took some photos.
Leaving Derby we see the entrance to the Gibb River road and went down to the information board area, took some pictures

now heading back to Roebuck roadhouse, refuelling and getting food we headed south to the Goldwire rest area for 2 days.
