Exploring around Glen Mervyn Dam WA.
Well we started the day by packing up the camper trailer and leaving the John Tognela rest area

heading South towards Bunbury down the Myalup Forest Hwy trees over hang the road, it starts to rain first time that I have used the wiper blades in along time. Roadwork happening in a lot of areas along the roads.

We past the Crooked Carrot Cafe turning inland onto the South Western Hwy where we were stopped by mains road who blocked the Highway, a fatal road crash has occurred, so we have to detour taking us high into the mountains where we came on an intersection where Gnomeville was, we drove pass and we could see thousands of garden gnomes everywhere, stopping down the road at Wellington Mill, beautiful trees, bbqs, information board and toilets.

Approaching Glen Mervyn Dam we drove in the day use section this is where the dam wall is the water level seems high, one way in bush track with parking area for cars vertical parking of course not great if towing a trailer.

Any way we drove out to see if we could find the camping area on the west side of the dam. The road in called Best road gravel half obstructed by a tree fallen over the road but enough room just to get around

down a goat track with big washouts, deep ruts, found the camp area but drove further to steep hill massive washout nowhere to turn around had to go further, 3 point turn between trees, then back up this steep road washout but the truck handle it well.

We did not stay as if it rained we would not be able to get out.
On leaving the dam area we headed up very hilly ranges, heading toward the town Collie.

This is a fairly big town with long vechile parking bays, many other towns could learn from Collie. On the way into one of the streets, there was a armored tank display.

We left Collie and headed to the Coalfields roadside stop. It was an alright site for the night but road noise very loud, so we headed back towards John Tognela rest area for a good night sleep.
