The Town Of Leeman WA.
Gay-Maree got some hot pies to eat so off we drove around the corner to the Pioneer Park for morning tea. The park was right on the water edge where boats dock at the jetty and you could see outcrops of rocks above the water level.
Pioneer Park is a memorial park with a huge stone and a sign saying Lest We Forget
There was a gazebo also for the memorial service, the park clean and well kept. Leeman should be proud.
Then we went up the road to find Beach Bay, this is a beautiful bay that has a lookout called the TI-Tree Point Scenic Lookout that overlooks the whole area.
It was a bit of a steep climb up those steps, this is where I met this lady who had a camera with a very big lens attached. She was telling me that there is a eagle's nest on a pole with chicks in there.
So I climb to the top of the lookout photo opportunity again beautiful views that the camera will never capture like the human eyes.
After descending down the steps I thought I could try taking some pictures of the eagles in there nest.
So down the path another park called Gecko Patch Hill with toilet block overlooking the water.
The town of Leeman took a few hours to see.
A bit of history of the town of Leeman, back in 1658 Abraham Leeman van Santwits was shipwrecked on Fishermen Islands close to the town site. Fishermen Islands is south west to the town of Leeman. Abraham Leeman van Santwits was a Dutch upper steersmen and navigator, obvious not a good one because he became shipwrecked. Leeman sailed on the Waeckende Boey, the meaning is Watchful Bouy. Leeman one of the crew was on a survivor mission looking for the crew of the Vegulded Draeckwhich. This ship disappeared two years earlier. So the dutch crew member Abraham Leeman, is this town of Leeman was named after.
