Heatwave Gripping Australia.
With Christmas and New Year over it is heating up at Kambalda West 43•c so we were thinking, the closer to the southern coast would be cooler, when the southerly breezes come in. The rest of the country is a "no go" because the whole central land mass of Australia is very hot.
At Kambalda West I have tried a bit of prospecting using my metal detector all around the area but no luck in Kambalda even though gold mines around the area.
Had a few hot rocks setting the metal detector off but lot of copper in this area.
We drove south through the town of Norseman where camel sculptures made out off corragated tin sheets and a town centre sign, also a rotunda in the middle of the streets.

Now heading down south about 80klms south to the town of Salmon Gums to the rest area north of the town called Kumarl.

Kumarl is a big rest area, phone reception, bins, trees. We stayed a couple of weeks, I walked a lot of the bush tracks around this area. There has been lots of rain in the area washing some of the tracks out, walking them was also a challenge.

Well we had a string of hot days here as well, B.O.M. weather forecast for 4 days will be above 40•c in a row.
So it is time to move closer south. Going down to the town of Esperance for food supplies, went to Bunnings, had a drive down the esplande as well.

Getting late in the afternoon so time to find a campsite for tonight. There is not a lot of descent free camping sites along the way but a place that
Wikicamps identifies as the gravel pit is a huge area away from the road.
We setup. We are the only ones there, until backpackers camped on our doorstep. Two German girl backpackers I would say they were scared to be by themselves.

Well planning tomorrow's adventure. When we came through recently we went to Hopetoun and planned to travel along the coast to Starvation Bay but the road was closed due to flooding from recent rain. That was 2 months ago. So we will go to Starvation Bay tomorrow and make our way back to Hopetoun if we are lucky enough to get there.
