Texas Campground The NSW Side.

We left Gum Flats Reserve and headed towards the town of Texas via Warialda.

On checking out the campgrounds there is a lot of shade this time of the year, the QLD side mostly in shade very few sunny areas.

The NSW side down by the river was also in a lot of shade so we moved On top travelling along way to a campsite which felt as we were bush camping.
Lots of sun through the day compared to other sites having the ability to top the batteries up via solar, this is not a bad site after all.

Kangaroos, Kookaburras, lots of squarking Sulphar Crested Cockatoos, bird life in abundant, even cows grazing.

We are having lots of campfires plenty of firewood lying around. Mobile reception good, hoping TV reception good for the State of Origin this Wednesday. Have not tried yet the TV.

Lots of walking trails with river views. The Dumaresq River is very low, last month it was dry the council released water from the Glen Lyon Dam to flush the river but the farmers redrained the entire content saying it was their right to do so.

The council said it would not release any more water. The fish suffering and the bird life also because of the irresponsible irrigators that don't care about the environment over profit.

This is a common theme over many river system in Australia where we are now in drought conditions because the irresponsible irrigators do not know when to stop taking water from the river system till it is completely dry.

Well that was my soap box minute about trying to protect what is left of the environment which I call home.

Well I woke-up with the birds calling out, the sun rising through the trees, mother nature is truly peaceful and tranquil, making you feel great to be alive.

I have been trying to do gold prospecting around the tracks with the metal detector, it is amazing the amount of scrap metal under the ground, I found an old shock absorbers from a car, a crown wheel from an old tractor and lots of old rubbish it is scattered everywhere.

Unfortunately nothing of value, but it is a fun hobby. It sometime makes me wonder is Australia built on a rubbish dump, I wonder?

Yes this is a bit harsh and maybe not called for. Australia is a beautiful place with beautiful landscapes and sunsets, but just an observation it is amazing how much metals below the surface of the ground.

People who have tried metal detectors always dig a lot of scrap metal before finding something worth while. Cans, ring pull tabs, fencing wire, old car parts, glass bottles and a lot of other rubbish lying around.

A lot of us do the right thing disposing of rubbish the right way, but a lot of others do not.

Metal detectors are a fun hobby, with the promise that you will find that big hunk of gold one day and it would have been worthwhile.

Cold fronts are now approaching the Texas region seeing overnight temps getting down to -1.6•C that is cold.

Watching the State Of Origin on TV free to air reception good. 20 points all, last minute, as NSW scored a try to win the game. This was a brutal game, exciting to watch.

Who said you can not live comfortable off the grid, all the comforts of home, if you setup right.

This campsite being so close to the Town of Texas where most of your needs are met. Dump point, potable water tap, Post Office, foodworks and Spar, great well made Pizzas as well. In town free hot shower and toilets available, Texas even has free WiFi, its great.

At the campsite this time of year, prickles and burrs, even cactus needles getting stuck in Jools Our pet Maltese hair and we are constantly pulling them out. For pets maybe not as good but other than that great place, warm in the daytime, cold at night, but plenty of firewood for campfires to keep you warm and a night sky filled with stars to look at, just perfect for us to enjoy.

Towering gum tree all around as the sun rises through the trees makes a perfect bush camp sunrise, with bird life in abundant, letting everyone around know, it is time to get up. Nature's own alarm clock.

Jools laying in mum's arms also know it is time to awake and play, his morning rituals.
