Day out to Fletchers Creek.

Still camping out at Anabranch campgrounds, the river is so beautiful we kayak down  the river the reflections on the water made it very peaceful and tranquil experience.

We decided to do a drive out for the day. Fletcher creek campsite is about 40klms north of Charters Towers.

This is a popular camping area,  camping both sides of the road and across the other side of the creek.

Toilets, rubbish bins, even a dump point and some little wooden bridges so you can cross the other side of the creek. Plenty of parking space.

A track that takes you to the Dairympie National Park about 2.8klms away. Plenty of water in the creek, we took some pics to show.

On the way back we turned off Big Bend road which takes you to the big bend in the Burdekin river.

This was a gravel road that takes you to a river crossing which had a lot of water over the road. A camper was camping on the river and said the other side of the tracks very sandy with trees over grown he didn't go far but said he was worried about getting bogged and he didn't think it was worth the effort, so we decided to turn around and not try it in a 2 wheel drive vehicle.

This was a petty as when you look at the internet this region is truly spectacular. Having a big flood early this year may have effected access to this area but I am not sure as we decided to have caution about the trip on advise from this camper.
